Apple has shifted to a higher gear and instead of introducing an "S" series as usual, they're coming out with a new generation altogether. The Apple iPhone 8 has a very similar look to the iPhone 7, but both its insides and its exterior are completely different. Much improved, in fact! New features include a luxury glass back, an A11 Bionic processor, wireless charging and an enhanced camera.
The sophisticated design of the 7th generation has partly remained, but the use of glass surfaces elevates the phone to the next level. Both front and rear glass have a 50% deeper hardened layer and the 7000 airline aluminum strip further improves durability. Better yet, the iPhone 8 is resistant to spillage, water and dust, making it compatible with the IP67 standard.
The Retina HD display has a resolution of 1334 × 750px with a fine 326PPI pixel density. Unlike the older generation, the display also supports True Tone technology which automatically adjusts colours based on ambient light conditions. This results in more natural colour rendering and less eyestrain.
The 12Mpx camera received a larger and faster sensor, and also boasts optical image stabilization. With the truly amazing intelligent image signal processor (ISP), the camera recognizes the scene's composition and optimizes images before capture. The Camera application itself has seen numerous changes, as it now features a variety of new effects and filters. Also included is the favourite Live Photos feature, which allows you to play video loops back and forth.
Uploading of videos has also been noticeably improved. In particular, the redesigned video encoder can save video in better quality than before, while keeping the file at just half the size. Additionally, the camera now supports up to 4K video at 60FPS, or 240FPS in 1080p resolution. When shooting slow-motion video, the results are unparallelled.
The iPhone 8 comes with the latest iOS which is very transparent and easy to use. Applications are designed to get the most out of the phone's hardware, including the powerful Bionic A11 chip with its neural engine. User verification in iOS 11 is performed via Touch ID to guarantee absolute security of stored data. Overall user comfort is also significantly enhanced by the support of wireless charging of the established Qi standard. Qi chargers are becoming widespread and available anywhere.
